How to Move Projects Between Workspaces

Overview

This guide explains how to move a project from one workspace to another in Assist. This is particularly useful when you've been working on demo or pitch projects and need to transfer them into a client's workspace after they sign.


When to Use This Feature

Common Use Case:

You've created a demo project to showcase Assist's capabilities to a potential client. Once they sign and become an active client, you can seamlessly move that demo project directly into their dedicated workspace - keeping all the work intact and organized in the right place.

•       Keep projects organized by client or team

•       Maintain project history and content when transferring ownership

•       Streamline workflow from demo to active client work

•       No need to recreate or duplicate projects manually


Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Locate Your Project

Navigate to your Assist dashboard where you can see all your projects. Find the project you want to move to a different workspace.

Step 2: Access the Project Menu

On the project card, click the three-dot menu icon (⋮) located on the project card. This will open a dropdown menu with various project options.

Step 3: Select Move to Workspace

From the dropdown menu, click on "Move". This will open a modal dialog showing all available workspaces.

Step 4: Choose Your Destination Workspace

In the modal that appears:

  1. Review the list of available workspaces
  2. Scroll through the options if you have multiple workspaces
  3. Click on the workspace where you want to move the project (e.g., "ABC Corp - Client Workspace")
  4. The selected workspace will be highlighted

Step 5: Confirm the Move

Click the "Move Project" button to complete the action. You'll see:

•       A brief loading indicator

•       A success message: "Project moved successfully"

•       The dashboard will refresh showing the project in its new workspace location


Important Notes

What Happens When You Move a Project

•       The entire project, including all content and history, moves to the new workspace

•       The project is removed from the original workspace

•       All project data remains intact

•       Team members with access to the destination workspace will be able to see the project

Permissions

•       You need appropriate permissions to move projects between workspaces

•       You can only move projects to workspaces where you have access

•       Check with your workspace administrator if you don't see the expected workspace options

Best Practices

•       Organize as you go: Move projects to client workspaces as soon as they sign to keep your demo workspace clean

•       Communicate with your team: Let team members know when you're moving shared projects

Troubleshooting

I don't see the "Move to Workspace" option

•       Contact your workspace administrator if the issue persists

The workspace I need isn't in the list

•       Confirm you have been granted access to that workspace

•       Ask the workspace owner to add you as a member

•       Refresh your browser and try again

The move didn't complete

•       Check your internet connection

•       Try the process again

•       If the issue continues, contact Assist support
